Ben Craton, CISSP PMP

Ben is the founder and principal consultant at Star City Security Consulting.

Background

After graduating from Purdue in 2006, Ben settled in Lafayette and began his technology career at a small start up downtown off the square. Since then he has worked for multi-national corporations and with organizations of all sizes and sizes, public and private to meet their objectives with technology on-hand and at within existing budgets.

After a nearly 20 year career of helping one organization at a time, Ben took the step of founding SC2 to bring his years of knowledge and experience to the community that supported him and others like him succeed and grow. Now he helps local businesses and non-profits with their ever growing list of technology and data privacy concerns.

Qualifications

Ben holds a CISSP¹ from ISC2 since 2024 and a PMP² from PMI since 2016.

He has extensive experience in roll-out and maintenance of the following compliance standards and regulations:

• ISO27701
• ISO42001
• SOC2 Type 2

• CCPA/CPRA

Personal

Ben knows that security and risk management are serious business, therefore he insists on being professional while on task and unprofessional the rest of the time. According to his wife of nearly 10 years he is “silly,” “ridiculous,” and “makes [her] tired.”

In his spare time, he enjoys:

• Code-knitting (a term he insists he coined)
• Sitting in a creek on a hot day
• Wine his wife made
• Bourbon and cigars with friends
